# Editorial policy

This page is the rulebook behind every status label on the site. Three labels, one review process, and a short list of claims we do not print.

## The three labels

**Verified.** The default for a listed code. The label means the listing was reviewed on the date shown next to it, with the string, its casing and the campaign context checked against the current pages we track. It is a record of a review, not a promise that the code will work on your account, in your region, this week.

**Unverified.** Used only for a newly added string before its first review. It may still work; the label simply says the review has not happened yet. Most listings on the site are verified because the review happens before publication.

**Reported expired.** Applied when a reported failure is confirmed and the surrounding campaign is visibly over. A single rejection is not enough, because most rejections are typos, used codes or region restrictions.

## How the date is set

1. The string is checked against the campaign material we track, including casing and any partner attribution.
2. The listing is compared with the operator's current offer description, so the page does not describe an offer that has changed.
3. The review date is written to the record. It is the date of the review, never backfilled and never moved for appearance.
4. Any change is appended to the [changelog](/updates/).

The date you see is that review date. It is not a redemption timestamp, and we do not claim first-hand redemption of every string.

## Automation disclosure

Page templates, tables, metadata and the machine-readable exports are generated by a build script. Draft prose is written with AI assistance and edited by a human before publication. The review date is only written through the manual process above; a build cannot invent one.

This disclosure exists because knowing how a page was produced is part of judging whether to trust it.

## Claims we refuse

- A bonus percentage without a terms screen behind it.
- A redemption claim we did not personally make.
- A freshness date on data that did not change.
- An expiry countdown that is not tied to a real campaign end date.
- Any implication that StakeFree is operated by, partnered with or endorsed by Stake.

## Corrections

Reader reports that contradict a label trigger a re-check. A re-check can move a code in either direction, including to reported expired. The [contact page](/contact/) explains what to include, and the [changelog](/updates/) records the outcome.

## Affiliate disclosure

If affiliate links are introduced, they will be marked with `rel="sponsored nofollow"`, disclosed on the page where they appear, and kept separate from the status system. Placement never changes a label.
